The Art of Concealing - Part 03

The Art of Concealing - Part 03

Industrial Design / User Experience Design / Visualization

This project is an effort to reduce clutter and create a cleaner home environment that is often lost by placing necessary but poorly designed utilitarian appliances we use in our day-to-day lives. By focusing on both aesthetics and the user experience, we have transformed boring day-to-day household appliances into
products that seamlessly blend in with your surroundings and your life.

Why:
Necessary appliances that create visual clutter

The Process:

Various different forms and usage flows were thoroughly explored through sketching and 2D rendering. This allowed us to pinpoint which features and aesthetics to include and which ones to fore-go keeping in mind the market trends and user expectations.

The next step was to refine all our ideas to a higher fidelity and create more iterations. Creating various quick iterations in 3D helped us visualize all the forms in higher fidelity with more detail and precision.

The play dustbin is aimed at environments that are primarily meant for kids. Therefore, it conceals itself by vaguely resembling a cartoon character with bright coloured accents. It perfectly blends into any colourful environment its placed in.

The sphere dustbin is primarily aimed at living spaces where the overall aesthetic matters a lot to people.
It disguises the fact that it’s a dustbin by taking a very unconventional form to look more like a piece of
technology / furniture to blend into spaces where people hang out and take time off.

Work in progress prototype for usability testing and refining.
